Эписоде 6: The gulag apocalyptic: 1079-1082
You can’t crush us any further Reiver! You, the romanovs, the tsar you’re all the same. I’m going to raise a sewer bred army of thieve seductresses and murderers.
We’ll fight and booze and sleep our way across the universe. Bring down your empire…this empire…EVERY EMPIRE!
We’ll crush you into he gutter. Give you a taste of reality. We’ll rule over you see whos worse…
Or if we’re all as bad as each other…
Nikolai Dante as he dispatches the white Reiver.
Story: Dante is ordered by his father Dmitri to accompany a mysterious ‘Ally’ of the family to the Romanov Prison World of Samovar. The woman known as Khara is the envoy of the race that provided the Romanov family with their Weapons Crests in return for ‘Human Genetic Material’ in the form of prisoners.
As they land on Samovar, Dante and Khara narrowly escape death when their ship is destroyed. Their attacker is a ‘White Army Riever’ who has come to bring Khara back to her home dimension and put an end to the trade. Kharas’ race have split into 2 warring factions, one (the White Army) are dedicated to self improvement through technology, the other side (the Red Guard) are intent upon retaining their humanity. After a tough battle, Dante and Khara manage to kill the Riever.
The white Army: An other dimensional race who believe in improving themselves through technology. Only one is seen in this story but they will make a bigger impact in the third act of the Dante Saga.
Khara: The sole member of the red guard who are the complete opposite of the white army. She also returns later in the third act
Huntsman 5000: an intelligent weapon that adapts its ammunition into whatever is required to destroy its designated target. The Huntsman is linked to Dantes individual genetic code and so would provide a nasty surprise to anyone else who tried to use it. Handed to him by Khara at the end of the story.
See the speech Dante made as he killed the white Reiver….wow if that didn’t reveal that this entire series was planned in advance I don’t know what will…
Dantes kill count:
I don’t count robots….however the reiver certainly counts…
Total Count 15
Dantes lay count
Does Dante bed Khara? Yup….
Total count: 6
David’s final notes: Wow….that’s all I can say as to this story. Excellent action, excellent drama and some fantastic revelations concerning the Romanov crests and how they are created. Plus the crowning moment of awesome foreshadowing of the entire final act of the series. I said in my last entry that this and the previous story are important to the series and I stand by that. The previous story introduced several factions which will be important later and this one introduces the main villains of the first quarter of the third act. Plus on top of all that Henry Flint art! I forgot he drew a Dante until I reread this one. This marks the end of the stories collected in the first book of the rebellion reprints.
Next: Arbatovs ,Arbatovs, everywhere bloody Arbatovs and a trip to Brittania as we witness two one offs before the great game….
