Эписоде 11.1 The Cadre Infernale Progs 1134-1137
(Taken from the filing cabinet of Doom)
Story: Lulu invites Dante to a Sabbat, the annual meeting of the High Council of the Cadre Infernale – the Hellfire Club. Dante intervenes to save a serving wench from the attentions of two elderly British perverts and faces the ire of captain Emmanuel in the process but a conflict is avoided when Lulu tells him that Dante is her half brother.
During the festivities Dante is framed for the murder of one of the higher up perverts and barely escapes from Lulu crest ability. Dante follows clues to a hidden basement when young women are being drained of their blood, kept barely alive. He finds evidence Le Fanu the head priestess of the cadre infernale murdered Magda but then she attacks him.
Le Fanu says the victims in the room are the unemployed. Dante accuses her of Magda’s murder but Le Fanu says she loved the dominatrix. Nikolai kills her in self defense. Lulu brings in the council, having shown them evidence of what Le Fanu did. Lulu is elected high priestess; she now has power over aristocrats of power and influence throughout the Empire. Her cyber-swarm altered the evidence to make Le Fanu look guilty.
Dante is not happy of how he was used and refuses membership
The Hellfire club: See a few words on…
Captain Emmanuel: Captain of brittania intelligence looks an awful lot like a famous fictional character…but we’ll get into that in a future episode…
A few words on…
The hellfire club
(The original Hellfire club from the uncanny X-men and a few of its later recruits)
The Hellfire Club was a name for several exclusive clubs for high society rakes established in Britain and Ireland in the 18th century, and was more formally or known as the “Order of the Friars of St. Francis of Wycombe”. These clubs were rumored to be the meeting places of “persons of quality” who wished to take part in immoral acts, and the members were often very involved in politics. Neither the activities nor membership of the club are easy to ascertain.
In popular culture the idea of the Hellfire club is used a lot, most famously in the pages of the uncanny x-men. That version a group of mutants who have a been a serious thorn in the teams side since the 70s was based on a version of the hellfire club seen in an episode of the Avengers called “A touch of brimstone,”
Dante’s kill count: Dante kills Le Fanu in self defense
Total Count 28
David’s final notes: Ah Lulu how I love thee…If you thought the title image was wild apparently there was a dirtier version which Simon Fraser still has…I hope he reads this and puts a link to it in the comments. As to the story itself it’s a rather grim one which expands on the relationship between Dante and his half sister…one which takes some interesting turns in the future…
Эписоде 11.2 The Hunting Party Progs 1139-1140
(Taken from the filing cabinet of doom)
The family Romanov stages its annual hunt on the dynasty’s stalking grounds, tundra near the Winter Palace. Dante is the only one yet to record a kill, saving more beasts than the others have killed with his missed shots and blundering. Dmitri and Jocasta clash about his incessant drive to prepare his family for the coming war. The Romanovs have many luxurious hunting lodges to which they retire at night.
Dmitri hires three assassins to kill Jocasta – a pair of urban mercenaries called Snake Lonnegan and Raoul Duke, and a former high ruler of the Mongol Horde, Skua Khan. Kill orders are usually placed through the Imperial Net. It is highly irregular for killer and client to meet.
Jocasta decides to return to the Winter Palace. Konstantin and Nastasia volunteer to escort her but Jocasta chooses Nikolai. She tells him Dmitri is her brother incest is the best way to maintain the purity of the Romanov bloodline. That’s why they stay apart. Jocasta thinks Dmitri would do almost anything to be rid of her. Snake and Duke attack.
Jocasta and Dante flee, running straight into Skua Khan. Jocasta kills him with her bare hands after Dante is swatted aside. They reach the Romanov Necropolis where past generations rest. Snake and Duke catch up to Jocasta and Dante, but Nikolai kills them with a single shot. As they die the hitman say they don’t even known who Dante is. The implication is that Jocasta was the target all along and Dante suspects Dmitri hired the hitmen – but has no proof.
Foreshadowing: Here it is folks the biggest foreshadowing thus far. The entirety of Jocasta and Dmitri’s “relationship” will be unveiled in a later saga…
They look like: The three killers hired by Dmitri bare a certain resemblance to three other 2000ad characters. Skua Khan shares similarities to Slaine and Snake and Duke are an awful lot like Sinister and Dexter as Gay lovers which I am sure amused Colin Taylor…
Dante’s kill count: Sinister/Dex…snake and duke come a cropper from Dante.
Total Count 30
David’s final notes: And Dmitri begins his challenge against the Tsar as biggest bastard of the series. He stoops to incest to keep his line pure and is so tired of his sister he sends third rate knockoffs of 2000ad characters after her. More than any other of the tour of duty episodes this is an important one for the saga.
Thus book two of the trades is complete…next week we begin book 3 as we experience fists of fury and have a last dance on the Tran Siberian express!
