Published by Disconnected Press and created by the husband and wife team of Conor and Lizzie Boyle this comic tells the tale of a UFO crash in hicksville USA which doesn’t end well for the unfortunate alien. Within three pages he’s shot and fed to the pigs and it all spirals off from there.
I won’t spoil more of the story than the opening setup but I will say there’s more than just the intelligent, demonic pigs you’re probably expecting. Don’t get me wrong, they’re there and they’re very cool, but it does all go a step further.
Feircely creative, beautifully written and brilliantly illustrated this is SO my type of comic it’s insane. It manages to be both horrific and funny at the same time, not an easy balance to get especially in comic form and I actually went back to the start and re-read it as soon as I’d finished it… something I never do.
Whilst working as a one and done, the book does end with a setup for a second issue. Fingers crossed we get one as it’d be a criminal shame if this didn’t get the success it deserves. Actually fingers crossed we get a “Tales of the Sentient Zombie Space Pigs” anthology so I can beg them to let me write something for it.
On their blog they say you can get this book for the insanely low price of £1 + p&p. Can’t recommend this one highly enough.
Failing that, track them down at Thought Bubble where they’ll have a table. Hit Conor up for a sketch as well… he’s a bit good especially at 2000AD characters
First Contact is stopped dead in its tracks by good, honest God-fearing folks. That is, until they try to dispose of the evidence…
When old Harlan finds an intruder on his property… Well, they’re intrudin’ on his property. He exercises his right to defend his family and farm, and sets off a chain of events that the local community wouldn’t ever dream of.
Welcome to the world of SENTIENT ZOMBIE SPACE PIGS.
