2000AD was borne from people wanting to stick two fingers up at the establishment and to expose the darkest corners of power.
Now, the folks at Disconnected Press are taking up the challenge of poking fun at the powerfrul, with their latest comic anthology. CROSS is 64 pages of political satire, a good slug of venom and the occasional robot.
CROSS features an array of Tharg’s finest script- and art-droids including writers Rob Williams, David Baillie, Emma Beeby and Tom Eglington, and artists Ben Willsher, PJ Holden, Nick Dyer and Tom Foster.
So what’s it about?
CROSS is a collection of short comic stories slinging a shot across the bows of the establishment. A call to people across the land to think about who governs us and the decisions they make on our behalf. And a rallying call to get out the vote.
It’s the biggest, boldest comic created by Disconnected Press – whose Sentient Zombie Space Pigs, drawn by Dark Judgement conspirator Conor Boyle, was one of the stand-outs of 2013 and who have a fine history producing high quality anthologies.
Launching in November, the Disconnected team are currently fundraising and taking pre-orders through Kickstarter. £10 gets you a copy of the book, delivered to your door, in time for Christmas. Up your pledge to £20 for a signed copy or £35 for a sketch.
And there’s a special offer for ECBT2000AD readers – place your order via Kickstarter, tweet @DisconnectedPrs and say “I backed CROSS because @ECBT2000AD told me to” and they’ll throw in a copy of Sentient Zombie Space Pigs with your order.
