There appears to be no code of honour amongst the perps of the Big Meg. It seems that someone is always trying to take advantage of the honest scrote. Aliens, on the other hand, can fuck right off. Now before you think Orlok is going all Steven “These Boots Were Made For Marching” Ross, remember that these porpoise headed twats were coming to Earth to lord it over us, so deserve all they get.
DATELINE:
May 2103 (Progs 211-212)
WHO’S RESPONSIBLE?:
John Wagner and Alan Grant explore the dark side of the perp running game and leave it to Ron Smith to draw the ugly shit.
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT (IN ONE SENTENCE)?:
Dredd goes undercover as a perp to infiltrate a perp running racket of Slik Ike Kolorado.
CANON FODDER?:
One of the iso Blocks is named Mega Pen 54.
Dredd refers to “jail” instead of “cubes”.
Dredd again has two guns in this.
WHAT THE DROKK?:
Dredd has his face changed to look like Icepick Brown, although from the looks of things it looks like Icepick has been the subject of a face transplant from Rocky Dennis. What about his Dredd’s voice though, which criminals seem to know and fear? How is he disguising that?
At the end the perps are arrested, so if they are going to iso cubes, how are they going to spread the word that Kolorado is the one who is to blame?
WHAT’S THE ART LIKE?:
Standard fare from Smith though there are some lovely panels not only of alien vistas, but also of disparate alien races that he carries off brilliantly. Annoyingly, the perp’s ship has every component labelled like it is the fucking Batcave.
HOW MANY LINKS?:
Four. The ruthless nature of the perps is a bit of a gut punch especially when it involves killing aliens. However, the fact that these suckers want to enslave the planet (especially the fuckers who have dolphin heads) means they probably deserved to be spaced. It’s great to see Dredd going full retribution mode on the perps too.
