Going on a long debunked premise that a full moon causes the citizens of the Earth to go bonkers (hence the term lunatics), this story shows how a full Earth affects the denizens of Luna-1. Maybe they should do a story of how every new series of stories set in the Rogue Trooper universe affects people who give a shit about the character…
DATELINE:
April 2100 (Prog 58).
WHO’S RESPONSIBLE?:
John Wagner pens gives us a little more of Dredd’s tireless workload and Mick McMahon jumps in when Brian Bolland only gets a splash page ready in time.
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT (IN ONE SENTENCE)?:
A full Earth brings a crime wave to Luna 1.
WHO’S THAT IN THE HELMET?:
Judge Jefferson J. Tex helps out mainly as it is his job.
Judges Che and Mex display a staggering amount of stereotyping with one wielding a whip and the other a deeply offensive accent.
ANY LAW LORE?:
Slow driving is a crime.
Juve Court is a thing apparently.
The Judge Marshal can cancel leave if required.
WHAT THE DROKK?:
In keeping with his racial stereotype, Che carries a whip. Judge Mex carries an accent that would have Donald Trump dialling the ADL.
Hang on, Judges get leave? To do what?
Dredd sends a suicidal citizen to the cubes even though he is clearly disturbed enough to want to end his own life. A few stories earlier a futsie did actual bodily harm and yet was apparently only hospitalised.
WHAT’S THE ART LIKE?:
Bolland is switched out for McMahon so this is quite jarring. That said it is perfectly serviceable stuff from McMahon.
HOW MANY LINKS?:
There is a good pace to this with Dredd in practically all panels which makes you feel you are right there with him and thus can appreciate how busy he is keeping a lid on this shit. Four links.
